Over the years I have seen my a doctor, chiropractor and a massage therapist regarding my headaches and back and neck pain. I have had some success with all of them but still not enough to be satisfied. I am now looking at acupuncture and am curious if it would yield positive results.
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can often be effective in treating chronic pain conditions and headaches. Further, idiopathic pain often responds to acupuncture better than conventional treatments. If the back and neck pain are a result of structural deformations, such as a herniated disc, acupuncture will not make the pain go away for good. It would however help in long term management of the pain. Acupuncture is a therapy process, and you must be ready to commit to a course of treatments over a period of time. Once will usually garner only very minor and very temporary changes in your condition. I personally recommend 4 to 6 treatments in the beginning to establish how your body and condition will respond to treatment. If you have no results, or minimal results after 4 to 6 treatments you may want to explore other health-care treatments.

I can talk just fine no problem but when I swallow anything it hurts. My upper neck is also really sore with a slight headache on the same side.
I went to the clinic and the lady said it was either pollen or post nasal drip, plus I had a slight fever, 99.6. And the sore throat has been going on for about 3 or 4 days now. I’m 18 if that makes any difference. Thanks
im actaully going through the samt thing right now and i also have a runny nose and my fever is at 101
please if you find out please let me now.
i too am 18
any alternitives to pain killers?
niacin (with the flush) will get rid of a headache
SOMETIMES when I have diarrhea my heart starts to pound, extra hard, and w\each heartbeat my head pounds. It’s so painful i sometimes i puke.
It always pounds in the back of my head at the base. It’s like I can feel every heart beat — pound – pain – pound – pain. If my heart would just stop pounding, it would stop hurting!!
I don’t seem to get this pain any other time. It’s incredibly excruciating……I often wonder if I am going to have a stroke on the toilet.
There is also sudden sweating.
What’s up with this?????? Blood pressure?? Sudden loss of fluids?? What??????
Should I worry or not?
Thanks
((By the way — this happens about once every two months or so))
Really u should see a doctor,,,,,
i get pounding too and for me it was high blood pressure and stress. I started a walking regimen and it helped relieve this problem some. Also, i get menstrual migraines. I get them once in a while right b4 my period which is from the fluctuating hormones. Are you male or female , how old? When was the last physical u had?
I think you should really ask a doctor to be safe.
I stretch, walk, and eat right. I have 2 little ones under 2 so I’m always on the move… the back pain is very severe at times, always at least a dull ache. I have headaches almost daily. I have a hard time falling asleep and a hard time waking up. I’ve been to a million doctors, a million drugs, MRIs and Xrays… I used to smoke, but quit. I don’t drink. I’m sick of doctors writing me prescriptions for muscle relaxers. It isn’t fixing anything or making me feel better, it just knocks me out. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!!
I’ve also had lots of blood work done… I’m not anemic… No tests or screenings have shown anything "wrong" with me. The only thing I’ve been diagnosed with is depression. I am on an anti-depressant.
Oh, and besides tylenol or advil or whatever…. I have lodine and naproxen that I take. It doesn’t cut it.
Dear Bellaj, I am so sorry to hear about your problems but to be honest, it seems you are suffering from Fibromyalgia. Please try and refrain from drugs, as they only make it worse. I started out with mild pain meds and now am on the strongest pain meds there are (opiates, etc. don’t even cut it with me no longer); however, I have been diagnosed with a severe case of Fibromyalgia and MS, so it might just be a tad different from what you are experiencing.
As someone has already suggested, you might want to consult a chiropractor. Getting adjusted may help aleviate your chronic back pain and HA. And yes, you must absolutely take some "mommy time". If you have family, ask them for help. Oh, and good job on quitting the smokes. Unfortunately, I smoked very little before and now have started to smoke daily. Very bad! Don’t fall back on that. It only makes it worse, I know! Have you tried light exercise? That was a dumb question, I know. You have two little ones and must be up on your feet all the time. But I am talking about other forms of exercise, like floor exercises, where coupled with breathing exercise, you might be able to tackle some of the back/neck and HA pain. The worst thing you can do is to just "pop a pill" and hope it’ll take care of it. It won’t, it’ll only make you want more and more. Your body will, unfortunately, become immune to them, thus you’ll fall into a hellish cycle. Try and see a good Neurologist. A family physician, though you may trust him, isn’t specialized in your type of symptoms. At night, after the little ones are down, try to take a nice relaxing warm bath with herbal additives. Chamomille and lavender come to mind. Top it off with a "sleepy time tea" that you want to drink as hot as possible in little sips. If I can be of further help, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am disabled due to the severity of Fibromyalgia and available most times. I made it my mission to try and help others as there isn’t much more that can be done for me. I am the mother of a wonderful teenage son, whom is my reason for living. Children are a true gift from God, even if they are stressful. Hoping that I was able to help some, I remain with kindest regards, MsB.
I get headaches everyday and it sometimes prevents me from working, like a squeeze and scratch at the right side opf my head. What can i do to make it stop.
if they happen every single day,I would see a doctor to make sure it isnt something serious. If they allways happen in the same spot, its prolly more than just a simple headache
I take Imitrex for migraines but this headache is different its at the back bottomend of my head. Any suggestions for relief?
Tension headaches, most likely. Do you spend a great deal of time on a computer? Do you have a large pixel, color monitor? If so, that is a serious contributor to neck/back tension. Do you have your monitor positioned properly so that you are looking down at the screen instead of holding your head to look up? what about your chair? Proper lumbar support? Keyboard positioned properly? Wear your glasses? Have good backlighting when using computer or reading? Getting enough sleep? Smoking? Getting enough water?
lots of things can go wrong but each one of the things mentioned above, re: computers, can cause tension headaches and eyestrain.
please help. everytime that i do chest workouts for the past 4 days, i’ve been getting headaches. i want to continue to do incline push upsets but it prevents me from doing no more than ten, and i cant do about 30 of them straight.
the headache like a bad cramp that stays there for hours
what is this? can i workout around it?
This type of headache is often called "Ecercise Headache". Seriously. I get them all the time. If you were to see a doctor, they would tell you to buy an over the counter pain reliever such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Take the medication before workouts and it will prevent it. These headaches usually occur with strenous workouts. Go to google.com and see for yourself…Exercise Headache. If the medication doesnt work, definitly see a doctor as soon as possible as this may be a sign of a serious medical condition. I wish you luck with everything and continue to successfully workout.
My neck hurts and the pain radiates to my upper back. I get lower right pelvic pains once in a while, but lately I have gotten it quite often..kind of like a cramp. I also get horrible headaches. My appetite hasn’t really changed and inotice no weight gain/loss. What could this be? The doctor is soo expensive and the last time I went he said nothing was wrong.
It could be a million things,,, here are a few links that will help you far more than random guessing by strangers

Hi, i am 30 years (2007) and having headache since 1992, it makes total of 15 years. i use to have Crocin(Indian brand of painkiller, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/crocin)…. And sometime’s Disprin. Almost daily i had to have either one of these before going to bed otherwise i could not sleep. I do not take both together. if i wake up early around 6:30 am, i do not feel pain in head otherwise i will 100% get headache if i wake up on or after 7/8 am. If i eat/drink ice-cream, cold-dinks, yogurt, milk pain will strike any time of the day else it will only start around 9-11 pm in night. it also depend on my work/movement, if i work more there are very good chances that it wont strike. mostly it strike at back of my neck and on the right side of skull above the ear and front of head. any suggection!
For last three years i am living in England (maximum temperature sometime rise to 25+ degree celcius, around year) and before that i was in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (usually temperature reach around 35-40 degree celcius through out the year), i am telling name of place and temperature in order to let you know it does not make much difference to me of the surrounding temperature.
when ever headache start i use to have craving for FOOD, some time it help if i eat something. and important thing is that if
i skip a meal, it is 100% sure that i will have headache. few years ago i got my skull x-ray done, in x-ray i got that on
right side of skull i had some thick layer of some (dnt remember name) stuff, and around right eye too. if severity of cold
increase my level of pain also increses.I do not drink lot of water, even after having food i prefer to have a cup of TEA rather than water. Generally before going to bed, with Painkiller i drink half glass of water.
The #1 contributor is insufficient water intake. According the the head of neurology at UCDavis (about 10 years ago) running a body too low on water is like running a car low on oil (and we know that can lead to the engine seizing).
Two house hold muscle relaxers (because they contain magnesium and potassium) are bananas and molasses (swig it or put it in something)
Any type of headache (barring things like cancer) is caused by the muscles being too tight. But the muscles involved are the back, shoulders (even in the front) neck and any/everywhere on the head.
The muscles get knots in the fibers called trigger points which keep the muscles tight.
Start with a massage. Rub or lightly scratch through your hair first. You will find places that are tender these are trigger points. Rub them 6 -12 times per session 6 times a day until they go away.
