The only self-help video I found for headaches (which was much more complicated, and took much longer to work) was $49.00. I also found an 8-week class online for $70 (Yikes! How complicated is THAT technique?!! And who wants to wait eight weeks to improve the quality of their life?)

  • What causes frequent headaches and sudden mood swings?

Posted by admin on March 10th, 2010 and filed under chronic daily Headaches symptoms | 7 Comments »

I am a little worried about my boyfriend. He has been having painful headaches and they cause him to cry. The headaches are sudden after being angry or having sex. Anybody have any ideas?

Hm it sounds to me like he is maybe having some postpartum depression or maybe stages of it did he ever suffer any sort of trauma in his life recently or throughout his life? & also the headaches may be migraines not headaches themselves I unfortunately have the pleasure (sarcasm Haha) of having migraines & suffer from them it’s really horrible pain & I often cry about it because no pain pill works I have taken some extremes when it comes to my migraines, from normal ibuprofen to Excedrin to Tylenol 3 nothing works. My suggestion is maybe having him see a doctor to tell him what is causing his pain & see if the mood swings are something worse.

    I wish you luck.

sudden on set of migrane headache?

Posted by admin on March 8th, 2010 and filed under chronic daily Headaches symptoms | 1 Comment »

I have been getting sudden headaches . all of a sudden WHAM migraine pain in my temple .
I do get very bad migraines once a month or so. But i normally feel then coming on. anyone else had this ?

See your health care provider as soon as possible. Most so-called migraine headaches are really tension headaches. True migraine headaches are often associated with nausea or vomiting and are preceded by seeing flashes of light or "stars." They are caused by the tightening and then relaxing of blood vessels in the head. True migraine headaches occur on only one side of the head during any particular attack. Although headaches aren’t a reliable indicator of high blood pressure, if they are worse in the morning, check the blood pressure.
All of the usual over-the-counter drugs (acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen) are quite effective in relieving headache.
Headache may frequently be relieved by massage or heat applied to the back of the upper neck or by simply resting with eyes closed and the head supported. Relaxation techniques such as meditation may work also.
Persistent headaches that don’t respond to such measures should be brought to the attention of a doctor. I hope this helps you. And good luck.

    worried about these sudden headaches.?

im not sure if this is to much to ask on yahoo, but this has been happening to me a lot lately, and I really cant find an answer for it anywhere. It seems that, more often than not, when i reach a climax i get an instant throbbing headache. It feels like pressure and it starts in the back of my head and goes down my neck. I can feel my pulse pounding in my head down my neck and to my spine. it almost feels like a migraine mixed with a headache you have when you have a sinus infection. it only lasts for a few moments but during those moments its pretty intense and worries me.
i do not have regular headaches, i hardly ever get them unless im sick which is on rare occasions. I am not sick, and this has been going on for about 2 months. I do not take medication for it because it only lasts a few moments. I am not on any medications. It only happens when i reach a climax.

The headache you describe is a very typical description of a coital headache, it is relatively common and occurs with exactly the symptoms you describe in your posting. the main diagnosis to exclude in this type of headache is that it is not due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which is very similar in its presentation. The fact that you suffered no significant neurological sequel makes this unlikely. I would advise that since this is the first time thic has happened that you should be seen and assessed by a neurologist, however the story you describe is so typical that a benign coital headache is the most likely explanation.

    cause of my sudden headaches?

i get them at least 2 times a week but some times more. they feel like i have the front of my head against a wall and im pushing really hard against the wall. then in the back it feels like i got punched really hard. the pain often goes down into the top of my jaw too. on a scale of 1 to 10 for pain id have to say its between 9 and 10. they can last for days also. i have been to 2 different doctors for it. neither of them can give me an actual answer. one of them was a specialist and all she told me is that im stressed. the only reason im stressed is because im in so much pain. im 16 and this has been happening for almost a year. can any one at all tell me what type of headache it is, what might be causing it and what i can do for it. they had me on antidepressants but that only made it worse.
im not depressed or stressed out. im a normal happy teenager other that the terrible headaches.

There could be a number of causes, stress, depression, anxiety.

    Headaches and sudden high BP?

Posted by admin on February 21st, 2010 and filed under chronic daily Headaches symptoms | 2 Comments »

    Hi all,
About three weeks ago I started getting daily headaches, which was very unusual for me; after having them for 12 days straight I went to my doctor and have some blood tests done, all of which were totally normal. My doctor measured my blood pressure on this occasion as 120/75; as I am a medical student my friends and I often practice on each other and mine is always in the 110-120 systolic range.
So the doctor didn’t find anything and the headaches actually went away after a couple of days; however, about 3 days ago they came back again. I have also been having trouble sleeping and feeling very lethargic, and have noticed that I have felt quite hot and ’sticky’ (for lack of a better word, as though it was humid) even though it is only Spring and not very warm yet. I went to the doctor today to get a certificate as I’d overslept and missed a tute from being so tired, and he took my blood pressure again; it was 160, then 170 systolic. This is totally unusual for me as it the highest it’s ever been was 120. My doctor told me not to worry because it’s highly unlikely anything nasty could put my BP up that high in the space of a week, and told me just to get a friend to measure it in a couple of days and come back if it was still raised. He said it was not that unusual in someone my age to have a very sudden hike in BP under stressful circumstances, keeping in mind I had a very upsetting afternoon prior to seeing him.
Anyway, I’m still a little worried about the headaches and now high BP, and hoping it’s just down to increased stress and less sleep lately while trying to keep up with study. Does anyone think I should be worried? I’m an 18-year-old girl by the way.
    Thanks
Thanks for the tips so far guys – if it helps I had a CBC, UEC, ESR, LFT, Ferritin and Glucose done for blood tests, and all was normal

Thats a super high BP for an eighteen year old girl. I know that stress raises heartrate and BP but that just seems really high for just having a stressful afternoon. Ive pulled people out of smashed cars whose BP wasnt that high. If it were me I would go and get a second opinion or at least closely monitor your BP just to be on the safe side

Headaches and sudden high BP in 18 year old?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under chronic daily Headaches symptoms | 2 Comments »

    Hi all,
About three weeks ago I started getting daily headaches, which was very unusual for me; after having them for 12 days straight I went to my doctor and have some blood tests done (CBE, ESR, LFT, UEC, Ferritin, Glucose), all of which were totally normal (except slightly raised neutrophils but this has been the case every time I have ever had blood taken, likely because I have eczema).
I have also been having trouble sleeping due to neck-aches and feeling very lethargic, and have noticed that I have felt quite hot and ’sticky’ (for lack of a better word, as though it was humid) even though it is only Spring and not very warm yet, and I don’t have a fever. He said it was not that unusual in someone my age to have a very sudden hike in BP under stressful circumstances, keeping in mind I had a very upsetting afternoon prior to seeing him.
Anyway, I’m still a little worried about the headaches and now very concerned about the high BP, and hoping it’s just down to increased stress and less sleep lately while trying to keep up with study. I took my BP at home this a few times and it is still consistently around the 140 to 150/80 mark. Does anyone think I should be worried? This is really starting to worry me as I am acutely aware that blood pressures that high, especially in someone my age, are definitely not normal. I’m an 18-year-old girl by the way.
Thanks – any and all help, especially from health professionals appreciated!

Apologies, it should read that I took my BP a few times this EVENING after seeing the doctor
My pulse has been 80-85 when I’ve measured it a few times today; I’ve noticed my pulse varies greatly between about 65 and 85 so whether that’s significant at all I don’t know (don’t I sound like the most impressive med student ever?)

All of your symptoms lead directly to stress, which you yourself said you’d had the previous evening.
Stress causes anxiety, which will raise your heartbeat and blood pressure. A heightened BP will cause headaches. Stress also makes it difficult to sleep, which would be the answer to your problem sleeping that night — and it also causes sweating and hot flashes.

What exactly occurs when a person’s head when he or she gets a sudden headache / "headrush" ?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under chronic daily Headaches symptoms | 1 Comment »

Just looking for an explanation of what exactly occurs in the skull or the brain after a headrush that occurs after a long cough, hard sneeze…etc.

Headrush? A headrush is a sudden sensation of dizziness which occurs when someone rises from a seated position as what been defined while I search for the term, while as far as I understand it dizziness it could be due to overfatigue and sometime cough or having running noise can cause headache. I did also had the same experience. I just follow the tip from "How You Can Escape The Pain Of Headache And Get Your Life Back …Now!" and it works.

I get really bad, sudden headaches. What could be causing this?

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under chronic daily Headaches symptoms | 6 Comments »

My headaches come very suddenly…out of nowhere. I get them at least 5 times a week. I have noticed that I have a higher sensitivity to light than sound when I have a headache. Also, it always happens above my right eye. Sometimes I can make it go away with Ibuprofen or a heating pad, but most of the time I have to wait it out or sleep it off. I am deficient in potassium, and I get dehydrated easily, but I drink a lot of water during the day. What could be causing my headaches?

If it matters at all, I’m 16, female, average height/weight.

This sounds like classic migraine symptoms. You should have your doctor do a work up to rule
out other things. The potassium deficiency might play into this but some people have no cause
at all. Mine went away when I had my tonsils removed! I found that too much citrus would trigger
mine too. Sleeping them off is the only way other than medicine to get rid of the pain. Some people
are prescribed birth control and this works for them. Do a web search for more info.
    Good luck!
